The first year of your college life could be overwhelming, and confusing but here are some pro-tips that we took after a survey from college seniors, which are going to help you get through your freshmen year efficiently.

Come up with a routine:

Before your college starts, write down your schedule for the whole year, it will change according to the time you spend but it will surely help you to get on a track. Write down at what time you have to wake up to get in your class on the time, when to study, when to play video games and when to go to bed. Planning your routine will help you a lot in your freshmen year.

Get involved in extracurricular activities:

Don’t limit yourself to hang out with only 2-3 friends, try other groups too, participate in sports and other extracurricular activities and try to be social and extrovert among others. Because this will not only boost your confidence but also may let you meet some god people in college.

Join any society:

There are various societies that you can join in your freshman year. From music, dance, and theatre to event societies. You can opt for the one you’re interested in. Joining a society or any club can be a good opportunity to meet new people apart from classmates and roommates.

Grades matter in your first year:

It is very important to study hard in your freshman year. Even you need only 40% marks to get pass, aim to get 100%. Because your performance in the first year of your college may affect your next years. So always remember that your primary motive is to get good grades and for that, your main concentrate should be on your studies apart form other activities.

Take deadlines seriously:

Deadlines are very important, not every teacher will give you leniency over your passed deadlines. So make a habit to respect deadlines from day one, and note down it, so you never forget it.

Don’t be shy asking for help:

Never be shy if you need help. If you’re facing problems with your academics, meet your teacher in office hours or signup for any e-learning program, If you have problems with your roommate, inform the relevant authorities. If you’re not feeling well, get help from the medical advisor. Missing home? Call someone from home and ask them to come and meet you. Just don’t be shy or introvert when you really need some help.

Be careful and safe from bullies:

With good people, you are definitely going to meet some bullies in your first year, but don’t get stressed out. Learn how to tackle them without getting into a fight. Walk-in groups, and always be cautious and alert. 

One more important thing for every first-year student is that look for groups that share your similar interests and values. It’s common that in their freshmen year students fall into groups that don’t reflect the way they are. Freshmen year is all about exploring yourself and find good people whom you’re going to spend the rest of college life with, so be careful when choosing friends and study hard in your first year.
